On January 23, 2025, the Embassy of China in Slovenia hosted a grand reception to celebrate the Chinese New Year. Chargé d'Affaires a.i., Mr. Zhao Binghui, attended the event and delivered a speech. The reception was graced by representatives of the overseas Chinese community and distinguished guests from various sectors of Slovenian society.

In his address, Mr. Zhao Binghui extended his warmest New Year greetings to all attendees. He highlighted China's remarkable achievements over the past year, noting a 5% year-on-year economic growth and the fulfillment of key economic and social development goals. He also emphasized the strengthening ties between China and Slovenia, with deepened exchanges across various fields, flourishing practical cooperation, and vibrant people-to-people interactions. Looking ahead, Mr. Zhao expressed optimism for 2025 as China advances the implementation of its "14th Five-Year Plan" and explores new opportunities to further enhance China-Slovenia relations. He encouraged overseas Chinese in Slovenia to continue their contributions to China's development and the enduring friendship between the two nations.

The reception also featured a video showcasing China's Spring Festival, recognized as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Guests were treated to captivating cultural performances by students from the Confucius Classroom in Celje.
