On October 1, 2026, Ambassador Kang Yan attended the opening ceremony of the 15th Kranj International Festival of Visual Arts  as the representative of the Guest Country of Honor. The festival features hundreds of outstanding works by 79 artists from 16 countries, including China.

In her remarks, Ambassador Kang noted that the diversity of civilizations is a defining feature of our world. Chinese President Xi Jinping has proposed the Global Civilization Initiative, which calls for civilizations to embrace diversity and enrich one another through equality, mutual learning and exchange. This helps bring people from different countries closer together and promotes the advancement of human civilizations. With “Window” as the theme of this year’s festival, Ambassador Kang expressed the hope that people would look through the window of art to appreciate and understand one another, inspire each other through exchanges and cooperation, and make progress together.

Ambassador Kang also met with Ms. Manja Zorko, Deputy Mayor of Kranj, to discuss cooperation in areas including culture, youth and sports.
